TRENTON (AP) -- A measure to combat gang activity in schools advanced Monday.

The bill would require the Attorney General's Office and the education commissioner to develop a gang education seminar for school administrators, teaching educators how to recognize gang membership.

Two-thirds of New Jersey gang members are under 17, according to the state Juvenile Justice Commission.

The annual seminars would be offered in all 21 counties.

The legislation now heads to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for consideration.
