Earned benefits

The Star-Ledger • Sunday, May 22, 2005 • Letter to the Editor

I am very angry that acting Gov. Richard Codey calls the benefits of state employees and teachers "entitlements." That is like calling them welfare benefits. Our benefits are not handouts. We earned them. What I would like to know is what "entitles" the governor's brother to the huge increase in pay and resulting bump in pension since the state senator became governor. It's amazing how politicians get on their high horse about a working person getting a pension but put their families at the trough when they get the chance.
