HACKETTSTOWN | The New Jersey Department of Education has named the Hackettstown School District a "high performing district," school officials said Friday. The designation comes from a December evaluation of the district by the Warren County Department of Education, according to a district news release. Hackettstown had prepared for the review since 2008, the release said. The state Education Department rates districts in instruction, personnel, fiscal management, operations and governance through its Quality Single Accountability Continuum review system. Hackettstown scored 90 percent or better in each area, according to the district. The school district was awarded perfect scores for fiscal management and governance. "We're glad to receive that designation," Superintendent Robert Gratz said in a statement. "We will continue to meet and exceed everyone's expectations." Also Friday, the district honored three teachers for receiving 2009-10 Governor's Teacher Recognition Awards: Eric Freeman, of Hackettstown High School; Therese Tomlinson, of Willow Grove School and Lynne Moore, of Hatchery Hill Elementary School.
