Warren Tech teacher cuts possible, board president saysThursday, April 15, 2010
The child study team may not be the only staff cuts made this year at Warren County Technical School. In a statement, school board President Bradley Bartow said that all nontenured teachers will be given notice that their jobs may not be renewed depending on the outcome of ongoing negotiations with the teachers union. The board has been in negotiations since the beginning of the year, Superintendent Robert Glowacky said. The educators' contract expires June 30. Teachers Association President Ed Yarusinski said he was surprised that negotiations were mentioned at the public workshop meeting, but that nothing is off the table because it is still early in the process. There have been four meetings between the board and union and all have been cordial, he said. "The (teachers association) will negotiate the best contract for their members that they can," Yarusinski said. "The union will give any proposal that the board makes in negotiations its due consideration." The school board announced that administrators and nonteaching staff have agreed to a wage freeze for the coming school year. ©2010 The Express-Times |
